UniversalAET Introduces Eco-Friendly Material to Product Line
UniversalAET recently began using a completely U.S.A.-made, environmentally friendly mat insulation material in several of its products as part of its Green by Design sustainability initiative, as well as to provide products that use resources more efficiently and benefit our customers.
TREO comes from Tritex, a subsidiary of heat-resistant industrial materials manufacturer McAllister Mills, based in Independence, Va. TREO will replace the previously used mat insulation in UniversalAET’s vent silencer shell wraps and locomotive box mufflers. There are multiple benefits of using this high-temperature needled blanket insulation instead of yesterday’s material:
- it produces fewer emissions and greenhouse gases
- it lowers surface temperature and cuts heat loss by up to 24 percent
- it’s made with 100 percent pre-consumer recycled raw materials, so it’s eligible for LEED credits for recycled content in the Materials & Resource category
- it’s biosoluble, which is safe for employees and customers
In addition to these benefits, TREO provides a total cost of ownership (TCO) that allows UniversalAET to maintain pricing for these products.
